News flash - nothing worthy of news coverage happened!
Is it really news that Barry Bonds didn't hit a home run? So what?
Let me know when he hits one. I don't care that he didn't, and hasn't since whenever. There is too much coverage of this one. Supposedly, the Giants played a game against the Braves, and there were runs scored - but all I saw on Sportsnet this morning were Bonds' at-bats, not the run-scoring plays.

Well, it is sort of news. I mean he is about to surpass a long standing record held by one of America's sports legends. This is a bit of a sacred cow to many many people - didn't they "discover" a bunch of previously miscounted Hank Aaron homeruns the last time he closed in on the record?
I'd care about how close this guy was getting, especially since Hank Aaron, you know, managed to hit those home runs back when smoking was considered healthy.
Yeah, it's pretty newsworthy considering how this is a part of the N. American sports and social mythology. Even a non-baseball playing dude like myself knows about Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra, Ty Cobb and all those old players.
Speaking of sports records, if you didn't get a chance to watch this year's Wimbledon men's final, it was one such occassion for equalling an old record. Roger Federer, the guy who makes tennis look easy, won his fifth (yes, 5th!) straight Wimbledon, the same number of wins as the legendary Swede Bjorn Borg. What was really cool about the match was that Borg was in the stands, watching...and so were other multiple past Wimbledon winners: McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Boris Becker. Talk about an honor roll.
It's news when he hits a home run, like he did on Friday night. It shouldn't be when he doesn't. And for the love of God, show me what else happened in the game. There are 17 other players out there...
..Yes but they don't have the sideshow freak attraction that Barry Bonds has. Have you seen the size of his head? It's like a side of beef.
Yeah, it is a "So I Married an Axe Murderer" type melon...
This is Barry.
This is Barry on drugs. Any questions?
