American Foreign Policy Explained With Resident Evil 4
In my attempts to post something every day I'm going to eventually rely on other people to generate content for me. This post over on Ye Olde Comick Booke Blogge was just too brilliant to pass up. It's shocking.
Personally, I'm trying to understand Mario's anti-turtle & mushroom bent.

A great parallel..
I like the part about how when you're facing crazed villagers and you're armed with only a knife, you'd have the sympathies of the world. But when you're kicking down doors and blowing the same villagers away from high-tech guns and launching grenades or rockets, the sympathies kind of disappear.
All these games start out with the "good guy" character but they're sort of inherently aimed at the power-tripper and the sadist within us. I remember playing "Doom" years ago...and it was kind of fun and addictive to see my enemies/pursuers crumble as they got hit with a shotgun. Same with Castle Wolfenstein...yeah, we know the Nazis are bad, but the real point is to make one feel good about killing them off.
I just really love the parallel of being able to go back to do the exact same thing but with a much more powerful arsenal and the experience of the first time around under your belt. It was great. By the time he was silencing the naysayers at home who wanted him to stop by a certain time I knew this was one of the best things I've ever read on the internet.
